Logging in to cPanel
Your welcome email includes your cPanel URL (usually yourdomain.com/cpanel or yourdomain.com:2083), username, and password. Bookmark this URL — you’ll be visiting it often.
The main dashboard sections
- Files: File Manager, FTP Accounts, Backup, Disk Usage — everything related to your website’s raw files.
- Databases: MySQL Databases, phpMyAdmin — where your WordPress, PHP, or custom app data lives.
- Domains: Subdomains, Redirects, Zone Editor — manage how domains and subdomains point to your content.
- Email: Email Accounts, Forwarders, Autoresponders, Spam Filters — full control of your business email.
- Metrics: Visitors, Bandwidth, Errors — see who’s visiting and troubleshoot issues.
- Security: SSL/TLS, IP Blocker, Two-Factor Authentication — keep your account locked down.
- Software: Softaculous Apps Installer, PHP Version Selector — install WordPress and manage your PHP environment.
Your first five actions in cPanel
Change your cPanel password to something unique and strong.
Enable two-factor authentication under Security.
Create your first email account under Email → Email Accounts.
Install an SSL certificate (free AutoSSL is usually already active — verify under SSL/TLS Status).
Install WordPress or upload your site files via File Manager.
